Anche se negli Stati Uniti i premi più prestigiosi della musica sono tre: Grammy Awards, American Music Awards e Billboard Awards, in aggiunta ad essi c’è un’altra statuetta molto ambita, però riservata solo agli artisti del mondo black: i BET Awards.
Si tratta della 21esima edizione dei Black Entertainment Television Awards e si è svolta al Microsoft Theater di Los Angeles.
Lo show è stato presentato da Taraji P. Henson con il supporto di Queen Latifah.
A trionfare è stata Megan Thee Stallion che, dopo aver ricevuto 7 nominations, ha portato a casa 4 premi.
